Ribes missouriensis

Wild Gooseberry

(Zone 3) A naturalizing, shade and drought tolerant shrub. Starts upright and branches arch with age. Reddish-brown spiny thorns cover the branches like hair. Yellow to purple leaves in fall and edible purple berries.
